Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 Review: TOTAL PIECE OF SHITE!

I purchased these about a month ago; all I can say is, if you bought them recently, bring them back. If you have exceeded the time to return it, try to recoup some joy by burning it or something.

EDIT: Somebody asked, "so why'd you buy it?" Fair question, I should have done my research. But I was in the AT&T store with a friend, we were looking for headsets for the Playstation so we could game online (Sacred2, COD, Uncharted 2, though we find ourselves playing Sacred 2 mostly, it's a really fun game for multiplayer), but I also wanted gym durability and comfort, as well as general use. Altec Lansing is a solid name (I mean, they provide communication tech to NASA), and the guy in the game store claimed to own one and said it was GREAT on XBox Live, so I went for it...live and learn/return).

What goes wrong?

- When fully charged, the device will not turn on. I found that if I unplug it from the charger and get back to it a few hours later, it will usually activate. This of course makes it useless; when I'm ready to go to work, and afterwards the gym, I want to take the fully charged device with me and have it available for use immediately. I mean...c'mon.

- Even when working, for no reason, the device signal begins to break up and crackle; attempting to turn it on and off doesn't work, the device will simply go dead until...see above.

- The signal is choppy. When you move around, it skips in/out. Makes it pretty useless for use in the gym or just when generally on the go.

- The forward/backward buttons don't work.

- The volume switch is wonky; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Don't believe me? Just google "Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 problems". You'll see forums full of people with all, or some combination of the above problems.

The device totally sucks, and should be pulled off the shelves immediately. Shame on you, Altec Lansing. It's too bad, because the sound quality is pretty good and they're nice and portable, but that's irrelevant if the device itself is flawed, and it absolutely is.

This reviewer: -1 stars. DO NOT BUY.
